Chambers
In addition to antenna measurement systems, NSI offers chamber design and construction services. A chamber is an integral component of a complete system as it bounds the environment in which measurements will be performed.
Parameters to be controlled include temperature, humidity, RF reflection, RF shielding and mechanical stability. The desire to control these parameters require a formal facility design and integration review, since the chamber forms the interface between an existing facility and the antenna test equipment.
NSI includes this design review when supplying chambers. The chamber design activity may include structural design, power supply, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, control line filtering, lighting and radiation safety. NSI can provide the design or specification of these items. In addition to these activities, NSI also provides verification testing as an option.
See Facilities FAQ for more information.
Features
All chambers are supplied with 12" pyramidal absorber on all surfaces. Depending upon the frequencies of operation, 8”, 18”, 24” and 36” can be supplied. Nominal attenuation of the shield amounts 100 dB to electric fields & plane waves from 14 kHz to 10 GHz. If your system does not necessarily require 100 dB shielding, a more cost effective chamber can be quoted.
Key features of our chambers include :
- (2) RF air vents
- (1) 12" x 12" (0.3 m x 0.3 m) Penetration Panel
- (1) Brass ground stud
- (2) 2 x 30 amp AC Line Filters
- (2) Standard AC electrical outlets
- (1) 3' x 7' (0.9 m x 2.1 m) standard shielded door
- Standard Lighting (4 lights)
- Complete surface lining with specified absorber
- Allowance for 6 pieces of walkway absorber
Optional considerations
- FM-200 fire protection System
- Stand alone HVAC system
- Control room
- Welded construction instead of modular for increased shielding
- Larger door sizes
- Custom absorber configuration
- Reduced shielding to reduce chamber costs
Many Configurations are Available
- Rectangular Enclosures
- Tapered Enclosures
- Partial Enclosures
- Welded Enclosures
- Modular Enclosures
- Custom Sizes
